When converting QuickBooks file from Windows to Mac or vice versa you may notice that your transactions are seem to be unreconciled. This is a known issue due to the way reconciliation works between the two platforms. Mac still uses the old reconciliation module where you have to go to the register and manually check each transaction to create the opening balance. In Windows opening balance is the sum of all cleared transactions.
How to correct transactions that have become unreconciled?
QuickBooks for Windows:
1. Choose Banking > Reconcile.
2. Enter the ending balance and the date of last completed reconciliation.
3. Click Continue.
4. All previously reconciled transactions are checked
Note: The Difference in the lower right-hand corner of the Reconcile window should be zero.
5. Click Reconcile Now
6. All transactions have now been reconciled in one lump reconciliation.
Note: The Reconciliation window may look different compared to Mac. Click on Columns to Display and check off all the columns you want to see for both the Credits and Debits side and click OK.
QuickBooks for Mac:
1. Choose Banking > Reconcile.
2. Enter the ending balance and the date of last completed reconciliation.
3. All previously reconciled transactions are checked
